Deliberate Brush Fire in Apache Junction
A brush fire, intentionally set, broke out around 4 pm near Ironwood and Guadalupe in Apache Junction. The fire quickly spread through a field and brush in a nearby industrial area. Units from Mesa Fire & Rescue, Superstition Fire & Rescue, and Apache Junction Police swiftly responded to the incident. A transient individual from a large encampment was identified as the fire starter. Police questioned other nearby transients in connection with the incident. The fire was confirmed as a deliberate act by a Mesa Fire Captain. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames, leaving a lingering scent of smoke and scorched trees. No injuries were reported.
