China's first cross-sea helicopter route launched

The first helicopter route connecting Sanya in south China’s Hainan Province to Zhanjiang City in south China’s Guangdong Province is now operational.
A Sikorsky S76 operated by China Southern General Aviation took off from the Sanya Tianya General Airport and arrived 60 minutes later in Zhanjiang City.
The helicopter will make both scheduled and charter flights, as part of plans in both cities to develop their respective low altitude economies.

"The new route aims more to meet the travel demands during holidays, conventions and exhibitions, and major festivals, to open up a new cross-regional flight channel across the Qiongzhou Strait or between Hainan and Guangdong provinces. It is also to serve the low-altitude economic development in the two provinces."

In addition to the 12 passenger S76, the aviation firm says several additional types of aircraft will be deployed to cater to different passenger preferences.
