This is the tense moment a driver leaps for his life as a heavy lorry rolls backwards down a hill.

The dramatic footage was captured on a rural road in Jiangxi Province, China, on October 5. Dashcam video from a car traveling behind shows the red truck suddenly stalling while climbing the hill before sliding backwards.

A white car, following closely behind, attempted to reverse to avoid a collision but nearly fell into a drainage ditch due to panicked manoeuvring. It was struck by the lorry despite the attempt to evade.

The truck driver then opened the door and jumped from the vehicle just before it tipped over and landed at the bottom of the slope in a nearby rice field. He reportedly sustained minor scratches but was not seriously injured.

Reports confirmed that the white car sustained damage to its front during the incident.
