SDRF successfully rescues four foreign tourists stranded on trek in northern India
In a challenging rescue operation in northern India's Uttrakhand, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) safely rescued four foreign tourists who were stranded on the Neelkanth Trek.
The incident took place in the Badrinath region of Chamoli district on October 8.
Visuals showed the rescue team navigating through the dense darkness and treacherous terrain of the trek. SDRF officials, alongside local police, were seen conducting a thorough search operation in extremely difficult conditions. After several hours, they located the tourists and ensured their safe rescue. The team then made sure the tourists were in good health and provided them with further assistance.
Speaking to Newslions, SDRF constable Vinit Vaibhav from Uttarakhand shared that the Badrinath Police Station alerted the SDRF team about the stranded tourists, which prompted their immediate response. Under the leadership of Chief Constable Rahul Thapa, the team mobilized with rescue equipment and navigated the difficult terrain, eventually locating and rescuing the tourists.
The rescued tourists included Joseph, a 56-year-old from Spain, along with three Brazilians: Paulo, 39, Rodrigo, 38, and Danilo, 43. All four expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the SDRF team and local police, who worked tirelessly to bring them to safety.
