This is the shocking moment a coffin was seen floating down the street during floods in northern Thailand.

Locals spotted the wooden casket being swept away by the muddy waters in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on October 6.

Footage shows Nut Iranoppaiboon passing by the container, which was half submerged in the water.

A resident, Ekachai Srinorasaksilp, later found the coffin under a tree near Montfort College Secondary School.

Local reports stated that the authorities transported the coffin to the Nong Pratheep cemetery for safekeeping.

Chiang Mai Mayor Asanee Buranupakorn confirmed that it was unused and empty.

Heavy rains have been ravaging northern Thailand in recent weeks. The seasonal downpours have caused severe floods as rivers burst their banks.
