Revenues of Egypt's Suez Canal dropped by 60 percent and the number of ships passing through the waterway decreased by 49 percent since the beginning of 2024, an Egyptian official said Sunday.

"It has been a year since the outbreak of new round of conflict between Hamas and Israel in last October. Affected by the spillovers of this conflict, the Suez Canal, Egypt's main source of foreign currency, has seen sharp decrease of revenues.
