Youngsters played street basketball in a coastal town that is constantly flooded in the Philippines.

Footage shows the locals shooting balls at a makeshift court that was submerged in a knee-deep deluge in Bohol province, on June 22.

They were neighbours who grew up in a village on an island in the eastern part of the archipelago where high tides, even in summer, cause seawater to flow into homes.

Their friend Van Kim Gabato said: ‘We are island boys and the high tide will not stop us from living our daily life.'

During high tide, the tiny island with a little more than 800 residents, is submerged up to waist-deep as seawater reaches the homes. Fish can even be seen swimming through the doors.
