STORYLINE:

The large-scale VR immersive experience project, "Discovering Sanxingdui - Archaeological Excavation Site of the Sacrificial Pits," has been officially launched at the Sanxingdui Museum in Sichuan Province, southwest China.

With LBE (Location-Based Entertainment) technology, the project offers visitors an opportunity to explore the ancient mysteries of Sanxingdui through immersive virtual reality.

Multiple individuals can freely move and explore within a shared virtual environment guided by archaeologists.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): ZHANG LIXIN, Representative of OCTOBER3D
"LBE technology has become a favorite in the cultural tourism industry. We started collecting archaeological data at the Sanxingdui archaeological excavation site more than 10 years ago. After the collection over the past few years, we have accumulated a substantial amount of original archaeological data. By incorporating additional narrative elements, we aim to present the excavation site through the immersive experience offered by LBE technology. Archaeological data will no longer exist once an excavation is completed. So it needs a virtual scene of the excavation for visitors to watch."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): KANG, Visitor
"I watched several pits with abundant contents. The artifacts I saw inside the museum were quite impressive. At the archaeological site, I have a sense of immersion. I also entered Pit No.3 to 'touch' the bronze artifacts and other objects to get a real feel of them."

Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Chengdu, China.
