This is the shocking moment a pipe bridge was swept away by floods gushing through a river in Thailand.

Footage shows the structure tilting to its side and collapsing from the powerful currents near a district government office in Chiang Mai province on October 4.

The deluge washed away the metal racks holding the pipes before residents reported it to authorities.

Resident Korawan Kantaudom said: ‘They are already repairing the water pipe system. The road nearby was not affected.'

No one was hurt from the pipe bridge's collapse.

Heavy rains have been ravaging northern Thailand in recent weeks. The seasonal downpours have caused severe floods as rivers burst their banks and submerged towns and villages.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon, leading to widespread flash floods.
