Birds and moths fall from sky onto cruise ship's deck amid Hurricane Milton
Dead birds and moths fell from the sky onto a cruise ship's deck amid Hurricane Milton.
The bizarre event unfolded aboard Serenade of the Seas which set sail from Tampa, Florida, on October 6.
Passenger Jen Harrison, 41, captured the eerie moment on video at 12:15 am on Wednesday (Oct 9) as the ship was heading to Cozumel from Costa Maya, Mexico.
Jen, an insurance agent from Alabama, said:
"We were terrified when we saw the erratic birds. "
"Some were falling straight onto the deck and others into the ocean. "
"It felt very apocalyptic."
Jen and her 15 family members had booked the cruise to spend time together before a relative starts cancer treatment.
The cruise was scheduled to end in Tampa on today (Oct 11) but Jen now fears they won't return until Sunday.
She said : "We've been stuck here since October 6 and now it looks like we won't be back until at least Sunday." "
According to Jen, crew members were also caught off guard by the unusual phenomenon.
She said: "The crew kept saying they had never seen anything like this before"
"They immediately closed all the decks to ensure our safety."
"We think the birds fell due to exhaustion but several did not make it."
"This has been absolutely crazy!"
Passengers are still awaiting updates as the ship remains docked in Cozumel.
