The video shows critically endangered Mangarahara cichlid fish, which are so rare their survival depends on man-made breeding facilities to keep the species alive.

The footage depicts the vibrant fish, native to Madagascar, gliding gracefully through three specially designed tanks at Zurich Zoo in Switzerland.

These tanks were exclusively acquired by the zoo's authorities to help preserve the critically endangered species and ensure its survival for future generations.

First described in 2006, the species was considered extinct in the wild, as their original habitat consisted of a single river system in the north of Madagascar.
