Boulder, United States - September 18, 2024

In an unconventional twist on home security, a Boulder family received an unexpected visitor when a large snake was discovered slithering through their living room. The Boulder Police Department, humorously recounting the incident on social media, pondered, "How many cops does it take to wrangle a very large snake out of a community member's home?" This was no jest, but a real-life scenario captured on an officer's body camera.

The footage, now making rounds on social media, shows the moment officers encountered the snake, which was making itself comfortable on the hardwood floor next to the fireplace. Unfazed by human presence, the reptile attempted an escape, prompting a brief but intense chase that ended with the snake being corralled into an orange Home Depot bucket.

"This isn't the start of a joke," the department's social media post declared, highlighting the officers' initial surprise at the snake's audacity. The operation to secure the snake was marked by a blend of professionalism and the need to adapt to an unusual situation, providing a lighter moment in the officers' routine duties.

Following its capture, the snake was humorously "cited for trespassing" by the officers, showcasing their wit in dealing with the unusual. After ensuring the safety of the residents, the snake was released back into its natural habitat, avoiding any charges but certainly leaving a memorable tale behind.
