Indonesia speedboat fire kills five following refueling explosion
A speedboat fire in Indonesia killed at least five people onboard on Saturday.
Flames ripped through the vessel when it caught fire following an explosion in the water off North Maluku province shortly after 2pm local time.
Local politician Benny Laos and his supporters were among those onboard.
Abdul Muis Uma Ternate from the disaster management and mitigation agency said the boat had been anchoring at a seaport in Taliabu regency and filling fuel before continuing a journey for the campaign.
He said: 'Five people have been killed, nine others injured and some other people remain inside the boat as they have been trapped.'
