STORYLINE:
A major river-crossing tunnel is under construction in Wuhu, China's Anhui Province.
It's the province's first such tunnel across the Yangtze River.
The tunnel extends 5,965 meters, part of which was constructed with a super-size tunnel boring machine independently developed by China.
The right line of the tunnel was fully holed through on Saturday, while the drilling of the left line is still underway.
The tunnel is expected to open in July 2025, enabling vehicles to cross the Yangtze River in just five minutes.
