10/13/2024 04:30 pm (GMT-0700) | BEAUMONT, Calif. – At 4:30 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department received reports of a vegetation fire in the area of Highway 60 and Jack Rabbit Trail.
Initial size-up had the fire at 100+ acres with a rapid rate of spread. The "Jack Fire" continued to spread due to difficult access for fire resources. The last updated size was 186 acres with zero percent containment. No homes have been burned at this time, and there is no current evacuation orders.
At 7:30 p.m., the fire was reported at 200 acres with zero percent containment. No homes have been burned at this time, and there are no current evacuation orders.
Water-dropping helicopters and ground crews are expected to continue throughout the night to contain the fire.
