Mum learns Spanish to impress daughter's boyfriend in adorable first meeting
A mum spent three weeks learning Spanish to be able to greet her daughter's boyfriend.
Lynéa, who didn't wish to reveal her last name, met Jorge, her Spanish boyfriend, while on a work trip in Spain back in 2022.
The pair hit it off straight away and Jorge travelled to Miami, Florida, a few months later to visit Lynea and meet her mum Michelle.
Michelle, who only knew basic Spanish words like "Hola," was determined to make a memorable first impression."
Lynéa, a recruiter from Miami, said: "My mom doesn't know any Spanish except some basic words but she really wanted to say something to him in his language. "
"So she asked me to help her translate what she wanted to say and for three weeks, she practiced every day."
"She put in so much work. "
"We'd go on walks and she'd practice what she wanted to say."
Heart-warming video shows Michelle nervously but proudly delivering her practiced Spanish greeting.
Lynéa, who captured the moment on camera, said: "I was so nervous I couldn't stop laughing."
"It was such a beautiful moment, seeing two people I love so much connect like that."
Jorge, whose English has since improved, was touched by the gesture and now communicates mostly in English with Michelle, though she still enjoys practicing her new language skills with him.
Lynéa said: "She's my best friend."
"And I knew Jorge would love her because of her open and accepting heart."
