US: Coast Guard rescues two from sinking vessel off Key West

In a daring rescue operation, the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Miami sprang into action on October 11, 2024, saving two individuals from a vessel that was rapidly taking on water approximately 55 miles northeast of Key West.

The swift response came after distress signals were received, prompting an immediate deployment of a Coast Guard helicopter. The aircrew, navigating through challenging conditions, located the distressed vessel in peril and executed a flawless rescue operation, pulling both individuals to safety just in time.

"The quick thinking and bravery of our aircrew were pivotal in this rescue," remarked a Coast Guard spokesperson. "Their timely intervention prevented what could have been a tragic outcome."

After being hoisted to safety, the rescued individuals were transported to Marathon, where they received initial medical evaluations. Fortunately, both were reported to have no significant medical concerns following their ordeal.
