The 19th International Energy Fair and 20th EcoFair opened in Belgrade on Monday, attracting more than 50 exhibitors, including six from China, with a focus on energy efficiency.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Serbian): STEFAN SRBLJANOVIC, State Secretary in the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia
"The energy transition affects everyone - from those managing the energy sector to companies, investors, civil society organizations, and consumers. Energy efficiency is not only a key part of this transition but also one of our top priorities. In the next decade, around 15 billion euros (16.4 billion U.S. dollars) in investments will be needed for our energy sector, including projects such as reversible hydropower plants, wind farms, solar power plants, new gas interconnections, gas storage facilities, and oil pipelines."

Ivana Hadzi Stosic, state secretary in the Ministry of Environmental Protection, outlined the government's efforts in environmental protection, particularly in waste management and infrastructure projects.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Serbian): IVANA HADZI STOSIC, State Secretary in the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Serbia
"Over the past four years, we have worked on establishing modern regional waste management centers. By 2027, nine such centers will be operational, seven of which fall under my ministry's jurisdiction. This fair is crucial in raising public awareness about ecological issues and encouraging citizens to take an active role in environmental protection."

The Energy Fair focuses on promoting sustainable energy practices. Meanwhile, the EcoFair is a leading environmental event, showcasing advancements in sustainability, recycling, and waste management from public utility companies, local governments, and international organizations.

Exhibitors from over 10 countries, including Serbia, Hungary, Austria, China and Germany are participating. The fairs provide a vital platform for industry professionals, investors, and the public to explore the latest trends and establish partnerships in the energy and environmental sectors.
