A bear stole food from a resident's kitchen and sparked panic when it was found sleeping at a stair landing.

The animal rummaged through a kitchen and explored other parts of the home before dozing off by the stair case in Tibet, China on October 9.

Footage shows the brown bear casually resting at the front of the entrance of a shocked house owner's door.

He said he was about to go to the bathroom when he discovered the large animal.

He said: 'I retreated indoors and quietly shut the door before making noise to make it leave.'

The resident added the bear entered through an unlocked door and stole a leg of lamb he kept in the kitchen counter.

No one was hurt and the bear fled the house afterwards.
