An injured hawk was released following its recovery in Colorado.

The Swainson's hawk was found injured near Monte Vista and made a remarkable recovery after spending over two months at the Frisco Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Del Norte.

It was reportedly discovered on a road with a leg injury, likely the result of a vehicular strike.

Footage shows the bird being released near its original location earlier this month, just as the migration season for Swainson's hawks began, typically from September to October.

Swainson's hawks are classified as buteos, which are large hawks characterized by broad wings and short tails. However, they are lighter than many other buteos, appearing slimmer and longer-winged, and they typically hold their wings in a shallow V while soaring.
