This is the heart-stopping moment a truck skidded across lanes and smashed into another car, killing one person in Thailand.

Dashcam footage shows the Isuzu truck crossing over the median divider along the Chonburi-Ban Bueng road in Chonburi province on a rainy evening on October 12.

The truck spun out of control and struck an oncoming sedan before veering toward a white pick-up truck.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Chinnawat Thisala of the Mueang Chonburi Police Station said they were notified of the traffic accident at 8 pm.

He said: 'The police will request to see the CCTV footage from the scene of the accident in detail. We will invite the truck driver for further questioning.'

Officers arrived at the scene, where the 20-wheeler was blocking the Ban-Bueng bound side of the road.

A motorist, Police Corporal Sorasak Kairatsameekaew of the Mueang Chonburi Police Station, was found dead inside a Honda sedan that crashed head-on with the truck. He had a fractured skull and blood coming out of his mouth and nose.

Miss B, passenger and relative of the deceased, said there were three people in the sedan. She said: 'We were headed for the Phanat Nikhom district when the trailer truck lost control. It all happened so quickly. It slammed into us with such force that our car was wrecked.'

Truck driver Kriangsak Thanomtheeranan, 47, claimed he had swerved to avoid the car that had suddenly braked in front of him.

He said: 'I tried to brake, but the road was too slippery and I ended up crashing into cars on the other side of the median lane.'

Police have hauled him to the Mueang Chonburi Police Station for interrogation.
