Heavy rain causes landslides blocking roads in India
Heavy rainfall caused landslides, blocking roads and disrupting traffic in India.
Footage shows authorities deploying JCBs to clear debris from a rockfall on Tirumala Ghat Road in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday morning, October 16.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted intense showers for Kerala and Andhra Pradesh following the heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu.
An orange alert has been issued for both states, particularly the Rayalseema region and coastal Andhra Pradesh, where hefty downpours are expected.
In another incident, a landslide occurred in Uttarakhand on October 12 while construction workers were repairing the Helang-Marwari bypass road, which had been buried under a rockslide last year.
No one was injured, although the debris engulfed their truck.
