Terrified toddler runs from toy Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur
This is the amusing moment a terrified toddler ran from a toy Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur.
Jose Callisto P. Gelito, a one-year-old boy, bolted towards his father, Jefferson Gelito, 40, upon hearing the automated toy growl and move in Manila, the Philippines, on October 5.
Footage shows the child screaming next to his dad while grabbing his arm. He then asks to be lifted away from the action figure, which has red eyes and a moving head.
Jose is later seen seated on his parent's lap, seemingly calmed down and watching the dinosaur from a distance.
Carla, the child's mother, said: 'Callisto loves dinosaurs whenever he watches BLIPPI, a TV show. He imitates the growling of the dinosaurs, and even when we're at toy stores, he often goes straight to the dinosaur section.
'His aunt gifted him this dinosaur, but when he heard it growl and saw it move in person, he ran fast to his dad, begging for help (perhaps to save him from the dinosaur). We couldn't stop laughing at his reaction; it was so candid and cute.'
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that play is extremely beneficial to a child's development and should be encouraged by adults in their life.
Dr Arthur Lavin, chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on the Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health, said that children aged three to four often engage in imagination-based play, becoming deeply interested in characters like fairies, monsters, or dinosaurs.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex was an apex predator and the largest carnivore of its time. The first remains of the dinosaur were discovered in 1902 in Hell Creek, Montana.
