This is the moment locals crossed a river using a makeshift raft to attend a funeral in India.

Footage shows residents struggling on the flatboat made of bamboo sticks before it capsized, causing them to fall into the water in Purnia, Bihar, on October 17.

Reports indicate that around 20 people were attempting to reach the cemetery located just on the other side of the river. With no bridge available, they opted to cross using the improvised wooden raft.

Authorities confirmed that all villagers aboard were safe following the incident.
