Since yesterday, fierce storms have pummeled Northern Italy, forcing firefighters to complete over 350 rescue operations across Liguria, Emilia Romagna, and Tuscany. Intense rainfall triggered widespread flooding, landslides, and emergency evacuations, with Liguria and Tuscany hit hardest.

In Liguria, around 100 interventions took place, particularly in Genoa, where rising waters trapped people in vehicles and on the lower floors of homes. Towns like Rapallo, Chiavari, Recco, and Sestri Levante faced severe impacts.

Tuscany saw even more complex challenges. Emergency teams in Siena and Livorno provinces conducted 60 rescues near Siena and Sovicille. In Campiglia Marittima, Livorno, 30 people were saved from floodwaters caused by the Cornia river's breach. A nursing home in Suvereto was also evacuated due to the flooding. Across the Livorno region, 100 interventions took place to rescue stranded residents.

In Bologna, 90 operations were carried out, including the evacuation of three families isolated by the Samoggia torrent's overflow.

Rescue efforts continue as aerial reconnaissance reveals widespread inundation in areas like Campiglia Marittima and Castelfiorentino.
