Village reclaimed by nature becomes major tourist attraction in China
An abandoned village that has been reclaimed by nature has become a major tourist attraction in China.
The buildings are covered in ivy after years of neglect in the village nicknamed by locals 'No Man's Village' in Zhoushan, Zhejiang.
Footage shows houses blending into the greenery of moss and ivy.
Locals from the once-prosperous fishing village reportedly moved out in the early 90s. As the land was left abandoned, moss and ivy gradually enveloped the roofs and walls of the structures.
Thirty years later, local media discovered the site, and it has since become a popular tourist attraction, charging visitors to explore the area.
The village has generated more than three million GBP in revenue for its former residents.
The former town council managed to collect 26 million yuan (approximately 2.8 million GBP).
They reported that after covering staff costs and management fees, half of the money (1.4 million GBP) was distributed among the former villagers.
The location, originally called Houtouwan Village, attracts many tourists to the island.
Local reports said the village lacks essential services like electricity and plumbing, making resettlement unsuitable.
