This is the moment Indian women protested against local men having beards - because of the chafing caused when they kiss.

University students marched through the streets in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, on October 18, for a rally against the scruffy unshaven appearance of local men.

Footage shows the women wearing beard wigs and walking with placards.

One read: 'No clean shave, no love.'

Another stated: 'We demand beardless boyfriends.'

While one of the protesters had a board reading 'no clean shave, no girlfriend' as she chanted the slogans written on the posters.

Facial hair in men has long been associated with personal grooming preferences and is also deeply rooted in cultural and religious practices.

While some women reportedly prefer men with beards for the rugged aesthetic, others are not fans due to concerns about beard burns.
