The Sakurajima Volcano erupted for the 33rd time in Japan.

Footage shows the active volcano emitting a 4,000-metre (approximately 13,123 feet) plume of ash from its crater and spewing lava through its vents in Kagoshima on October 18.

Sakurajima is one of the world's most active volcanoes. Its last explosive eruption occurred on July 24, 2022. In 1914, an eruption killed 58 people and caused a massive flood in the nearby seaside city of Kagoshima.
