A school bus carrying students from Nankana Sahib Public School veered off the road and plunged into a 100-foot gorge in northern India’s Haryana, leaving at least two students and the driver critically injured.

The incident took place near Tikker Taal in the Morni Hills of Panchkula on October 19.

Visuals showed a school bus, filled with children, lay overturned in a deep gorge, surrounded by thick shrubs and wild bushes. The wreckage was chaotic, with parts of the bus entangled in the dense vegetation. Dust and broken glass were scattered around, and the bus appeared severely damaged, its bright colors contrasting the green wilderness.

According to initial reports, two students and the driver are in critical condition, while others sustained minor injuries.

The students were on a school trip to Tikker Taal when the bus, reportedly speeding, lost control and went off the road, tumbling down the steep gorge. Rescue operations were swiftly initiated by local residents, who, along with the police, helped evacuate the injured from the overturned vehicle. They were immediately rushed to General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on allegations of driver negligence. A senior Panchkula police officer confirmed that speeding appeared to be the primary cause of the accident, and further action will be taken after a thorough probe.

The condition of the critically injured students and the driver is being closely monitored, with medical teams working to stabilize them. Parents of the affected students have been informed, and school authorities are cooperating with the investigation.
