Shocking footage of a climber near the top of a sea stack falling a long way and stopping inches from the ground because of his safety measures.

The video, filmed in Scotland this week, shows Jamie Mclevy climbing near the top of the brittle sea stack, before he plunges to the bottom at astonishing speed.

Fortunately, he survived the ordeal.

The climber's name is Jamie Mclevy and it happened February 28th of this year at the Souter sea stack north Berwick Scotland. The fall was about 60 feet. He fell because the rock was extremely brittle due to the harsh winter and when he went to get a hand hold the rock collapsed in his hands. Also the first peg or nut he used to prevent a fall came loose in the brittle rock and that was why he fell so far - the second nut saved him. He fractured his tibia in his right leg, had a few cuts and stitches but he is back in form now and climbing again.
