Britain braces for Storm Ashley with severe wind and rain to hit parts of UK
Storm Ashley batters Britain with 80mph winds and torrential rain as the Met Office issues weather alerts and dozens of flood warnings till midnight Sunday 20th October 2024. Spectators enjoy the spectacle of nature's power. they are narrowly avoiding a soaking from waves topping sea defences.
The first named storm of the season is 'likely' to bring with it a threat of injuries and danger to life, according to the forecaster.
A yellow warning for wind came into place for the entirety of Scotland and Northern Ireland and parts of north-west England and Wales.
An amber warning for the north-west of Scotland has been issued from 9am until midnight, with the weather service warning 'injuries and danger to life is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown on to coastal roads, sea fronts and properties'.
