The duck family that was reunited after the ducklings were rescued by a 6 year old.

Mia is 6 years old from Laguna Niguel. We were flagged down by a family that found the ducklings but couldn't reach them down a pipe they fell down. This took place yesterday in Laguna Hills.

The mom duck was anxiously waiting with just one duckling and the family that saw this knew something was wrong. Once they found the babies they were able to get one out, but couldn't reach far enough down the pipe. After we were flagged down I reminded Mia that she said she always wanted to be a veterinarian. Veterinarians always help animals when they can and this was here chance to help animals in trouble. She said "I can do it" and reached down the pipe up to her shoulders and pulled out 8 ducklings one at a time. She walked them all to the mama duck who was so relieved. the father duck was standing by - not moving until he saw his whole family.

Mia is going to be student of the week at her school this week and she immediately changed her career choice from Rock Star to Veterinarian when she got home.

The property management company saw the first news report and reached out to me. They found the hole, fixed it of course - but the exciting thing was that they found 2 more ducklings alive that must have wandered further down the pipe. We didn't know they were there and happily they were rescued too! Turns out the ducks live in the fountain area 6 months out of the year.
