A mum wrote an hilarious poem in memory of her son's hamster - bringing light to an otherwise sad situation.

Julian Junior, 20, lost Bonnet, his hamster of two and a half years, two weeks ago after he died of old age.

Bonnet, named after Julian's similarly grey car bonnet at the time, was sadly found dead in his cage on October 8.

Shortly after he was found, Julian's boyfriend Aaron Hayes, 18, requested a poem as part of an obituary and Julian's mum Beverley Griffiths, 59, immediately obliged.

In just 25 minutes, Beverly whipped up a poem which left Julian, Aaron and herself in hysterics.

Julian, a sales supervisor from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, said: "I was with my boyfriend at the time and we both were hysterical. "

"She has a really good way of making sad situations into something that's easier to deal with."

"Me and mum have a very close relationship and we're never serious with each other. "

"She is the person I can always go to when I need to smile."

Beverley has a history of writing poetry, both comical and sincere, for events like weddings.

Julian said: "My mum has always been a poet but has kept them very close to her heart and has many notepads with her poems that date back to when she was around 18. "

"Some serious about her life experiences and some light hearted."

"Many years ago people used to pay her to write funny poems for weddings and other events."
