Dramatic Video from 2nd Alarm House fire, Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania
10/20/24 - Mount Carmel blaze damages responders house. Around 945pm last night Mount Carmel Fire Department along with surrounding units were alerted to a reported working bedroom fire at 145 south Chesnut in the borough. Police were first on scene and confirmed a working fire with occupants inside removing animals at their arrival. Before fire department arrived the fire began venting out the upper windows of the structure and burning through a power line which remained live on the ground during the call. A second alarm was quickly transmitted to being more manpower to scene along with a 3rd alarm being issued to provide coverage and transfers during the incident. 1 firefighter from Ashland, Devin McClintock, manage to save one cat, named Stormy from the blaze. The cat was returned to the occupant once it was evaluated by EMS. 1 firefighter was also treated by EMS during the incident. No official cause of the fire was available as of this posting but was under investigation.
21:45 hrs. Northumberland County Communications Center dispatched a working structure fire at 145 South Chestnut Street in the Borough of Mount Carmel. Police confirmed a working fire with flames showing from the 2nd division of a row of 10 homes.
The blaze was brought under control in about 1 hour with overhaul extending into the early morning hours as all hot spots were eliminated.
A Fire Chief Jack Williams Jr., confirmed that 1 firefighter was evaluated and treated for heat exhaustion on scene.
Fire fighter also had to deal with downed power lines.
