Cars battled through flash floods amid heavy rain in Guatemala.

The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) reported flooding at kilometre 36 of the CA-09 Sur in the Amatitlan area on October 20.

Footage shows motorists wading through inundated roads, with some struggling to pass.

Insivumeh reported that the weather will remain unstable, with intermittent rains recorded across the country.

The latest update issued by the authorities noted that tropical storm Nadine has been downgraded, but the rains will continue.

The bulletin stated: 'Tropical storm Nadine has been downgraded to a tropical depression and is currently located north and west over the department of Peten. It is moving at a speed of 28 kilometres per hour.'
