Keystone cops have low-speed car chase in circles at roundabout in Brazil
This is the comical moment Keystone Cops had a low-speed car chase in circles at a roundabout in Brazil.
Footage shows the suspect in a black two-door hatchback entering the traffic circle with the police pickup truck in pursuit.
The suspect went around the island three times before finally taking the exit towards a village in Telemaco Borba, Parana, on Friday, October 18.
Local media reports indicated that the police eventually caught up with the motorist, who claimed he was speeding because he was late for work.
The State Highway Police (PRE) stated that officers initiated the chase after noticing the vehicle traveling with its headlights off and the driver not wearing a seatbelt.
The cops instructed the driver to stop, but he ignored their commands and sped off, prompting the pursuit.
Authorities noted that the driver made several dangerous manoeuvers, including running red lights and nearly hitting pedestrians.
They also reported that he almost crashed his car into the police vehicle during the chase.
Upon stopping the driver, the police observed that he had red eyes and shaking hands, but a breathalyser test did not detect any alcohol in his system.
It is unclear if he underwent a drug test, but the vehicle, which had outstanding fines, was seized and impounded.
