This is the shocking moment a truck wheel came loose and injured two schoolgirls.

The tyre detached from a ten-wheeler ice truck and struck a motorcycle on which the victims, Punyaporn, 17, and Suphasiri, 18, were riding in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, on October 18.

CCTV footage shows the wheel moving in the middle of the road before hitting the unlucky teenagers.

The victims sustained bruises and were given first aid at a nearby school before going home.

Police Captain Nipat Korsakul of Mueang Samut Songkhram Police Station received a report of the accident and led rescuers to the scene, where they found the white ice truck with a detached rear left wheel with the driver, Channarong Jadsakul, 59, present.

They also discovered the detached wheel and a damaged three-wheeler resulting from the impact, with the motorcycle taxi rider, Samarn Chalingsu, 61, at the scene.

Samarn said that he had picked up both students to take them to Mae Klong Market.

'At the scene, I heard a loud explosion, which I initially thought was from a transformer,' he added.

The investigation said that Channarong had driven his truck to deliver ice to a factory approximately 0.31 miles (500 metres) away before the wheel detached, causing injuries to the students.

Police Captain Nipat Korsakul stated: 'The driver has been charged with reckless driving causing injury to another person and will face legal action.'
