Footage shows rescuers carrying a pregnant woman in labor across floods caused by Tropical Storm Trami in the Philippines.

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) volunteers transported Nica Laurenaria, 20, on a stretcher to the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital as heavy rain battered Gimaloto town in Sorsogon province on October 22.

The villager began giving birth in her home while floods rendered the roads impassable to cars.

Trami, known locally as Kristine, intensified into a tropical storm as it churned over the Philippine Sea on October 22.

Philippine weather agency PAGASA said in its 5am bulletin today that Trami was moving west-northwest at 15 miles per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 53 miles per hour and gustiness of up to 65 miles per hour.

The storm was expected to make landfall in the Philippines on Wednesday or Thursday.
