An Egyptian political analyst has told Xinhua that the U.S. "bears responsibility" for the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
SOUNDBITE (Arabic): MOKHTAR GHOBASHY, Deputy chairman, Arab Center for Political and Strategic Studies
"I believe it is impossible for Israel to neutralize all resistance movements against it, as it has fostered hostility that cannot be erased, even with its military capabilities and the support of the U.S. and the Western world. As long as the Palestinian issue remains unresolved, the Palestinian state is non-existent, resistance will continue to exist. Additionally, Israel is fostering new generations of resisters, particularly among those who have lost their families in the Gaza Strip. The U.S. bears responsibility for this prolonged conflict. The escalation of the Israeli war, ongoing for over a year since October 7, 2023, involving the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Lebanon, could not have occurred without American and Western assistance."
