A newborn kitten baffled locals with its four ears and eight legs in Thailand.

The mutant feline was born with two sets of limbs and ears to owner Somchai Mankong, 42, at his home in Chonburi province on October 20. However, it died soon after its birth.

Somchai said the kitten was part of a litter born between his female pet cat Chakkalaen and a male stray. Instead of burying the animal, he said he decided to preserve it as a good luck charm.

He said: 'I took a picture of the kitten and posted it on social media because of its strange appearance. Someone was willing to buy it, but I refused because I intend to keep it in a glass jar to bring me good fortune.'

The business owner said he will display the gruesome lucky charm at his Buddhist amulet store.

Polymelia is a rare congenital disorder in which an individual is born with extra limbs. These additional limbs may be underdeveloped or non-functional and are often caused by genetic mutations or abnormalities during embryonic development.
