This is the terrifying moment a huge python was found slithering across a car windscreen in India.

Car owner Astik Tripathi turned on the engine of his vehicle and heard an unusual sound, prompting him to open the bonnet in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, on October 22.

Upon lifting the hood, he discovered the snake and reportedly attempted to shoo it away by dousing it with water. However, the python initially did not budge and remained in the engine compartment.

This encounter prompted the man to call the forest department to retrieve the animal and relocate it away from residential areas.

Footage shows the snake slowly moving out of the vehicle.

The team arrived and successfully removed the reptile from the car.

Pythons are nonvenomous constrictors that prey on rodents, birds, lizards, and mammals. They lack venomous fangs and consume their prey whole by swallowing them.
