Many U.S. companies are seeking investment opportunities in the Chinese market amid China's introduction of a host of incremental policies to support economic growth.

On Monday and Tuesday, a roundtable meeting between the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and U.S. multinationals was held in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

Representatives from about 60 U.S. companies and chambers of commerce participated in the meeting.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): JEAN-MARC TATON, Chairman of ExxonMobil China
"China is basically the strategic market for ExxonMobil, and we are very encouraged to see China's firm commitment to continue reforms.
It's my first time in Chongqing, but needless to say that I'm very impressed with the city and its infrastructure. EMC (ExxonMobil Corporation) definitely benefited from its development strategy, especially the land-sea corridor, which has enabled us to effectively serve our many important customers here, but also more programs in the western part of the country."

A number of foreign enterprises have participated in China's national program of large-scale equipment renewals and trade-in of durable consumer goods, according to NDRC official Wen Hua.

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MICHAEL HART, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China
"The topic of NDRC's measure for supporting large-scale equipment upgrades and trade-in of consumer goods, this initiative will play a pivotal role in driving China's continued economic growth and technological advancements."
