Heartwarming footage shows the water games that were a hit in the 90s - before mobiles were even invented.

The nostalgic Chinese resident found his childhood toy while clearing out his home in Jiangsu, China.

Footage shows the player pressing a button on the water-filled game to move small rings within the liquid, aiming to hook them onto a vertical pole.

He said that when he was growing up, the simple but challenging games were all the rage.

The filmer said: 'All of my friends had one. Now we all have mobile games but I think the water games is much more fun. It was a much more innocent time then.'

This kind of hand-held game was popular among children in the 1980s and 1990s. The toy came in various themes, including sports and puzzles. Often they could be bought from market stalls and toy shops.
