Weymouth, United States - October 20, 2024

A bizarre incident unfolded at a laundromat in Weymouth on October 20 afternoon when a suspect allegedly fled from police, striking a cruiser not once, but three times.

Around 4:22 p.m., officers responded to the Broad Street laundromat at Washington Street after receiving reports of an individual acting erratically. Upon arrival, they found the suspect uncooperative and attempting to flee in his vehicle. As he sped away, he struck a police cruiser before reversing and hitting it two more times, narrowly missing an officer.

The suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Djeff Josa of Taunton, then drove onto the sidewalk, prompting police to pursue him down Main Street and onto Route 3. The chase ended at approximately Exit 18, where Josa lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the woods.

Rescue crews had to extricate him from the wrecked car, and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Upon his release, Josa was arrested and appeared in court on Monday, facing seven counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf, and a judge ordered him held without bail, with a dangerousness hearing scheduled for October 24th.
