The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) navigated a flooded highway on a rubber boat amid evacuations during Tropical Storm Trami in the Philippines.

Footage shows officers transporting villagers across the submerged Maharlika Highway in Baao town,Camarines Sur province, on October 23.

The PCG said in a statement: 'Yesterday, October 23, 2024, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescuers evacuated 26 residents, including 15 minors, following the rapid rise of floodwaters in their area. Rescuers carefully rowed the Coast Guard rubber boat while fighting strong winds to safely reach the residents trapped in their homes.'

Trami, known locally as Kristine, intensified into a severe tropical storm as it churned over the Philippine Sea on October 23.

Philippine weather agency PAGASA said it made landfall over Isabela province in the country's northeast at 12:30am on Thursday, October 24.

Authorities said at least 24 people have died and thousands have fled to evacuation shelters as storm warnings were raised across the northern and central parts of the country.
