Filipino school pupils hold colourful traditional dance performance
This is the amusing yet nerve-wracking moment Filipino school pupils held a colourful traditional dance performance.
The high schoolers performed the Sayaw sa Bangko folk dance during the National Language Month event at Saint Columban College in Zamboanga del Sur, the Philippines, on August 30.
Footage shows the group gracefully dancing to the beat of the music during a rainfall causing the ground slippery.
Moments later, they gradually stacked the wooden benches until they reached more than 10 feet (approximately 3 metres) in height, with two cultural dancers standing on top. The performers even rotated the piled benches as the pair on top waved to the crowd.
They ended up shocking the audience when a boy pushed his partner as part of their stunt, who was then caught by his classmates on the side.
'Sayaw sa Bangko' or 'dance on a bench' is a folk dance that originated from Pangasinan province, usually performed during town fiestas. Performers dance on top of a bench only six inches wide.
