Watch a girl tie her long hair into a traditional Burmese hair bun style.

Footage shows the youngster sitting on the dirt ground while she twisted her 3ft long tresses into a knot on top of her head in Old Bagan City, Myanmar.

She fixed the knot into a chignon while letting shorter fringes around her head.

The traditional style for females is called 'san yit htone' and 'yaung pay suu' for males. Both look similar except the boys wore their hair shorter.

The youngsters still adorn their hairdo in such a way and it is often taught by their mothers who wear buns but without the fringes.

Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, retains many traditional living and cultural practices, particularly in rural areas. Various ethnic groups, including the Bamar, Shan, Karen, and Rakhine, maintain distinct cultural practices, festivals, and customs.

Long hair is seen as a sign of beauty and many young women in the former British region will grow their locks down to their waist.
