STORYLINE:

Lao Gan Ma, a major chili sauce maker in China, is a must in kitchens for many Chinese.

Over 28 years, Lao Gan Ma has grown from a small workshop with only four people to a modern enterprise producing over 3 million bottles of chili products daily.

Its products are sold in 160 countries and regions worldwide.

Now, driven by digital transformation, Lao Gan Ma has integrated big data into its operations, evolving from a manual workshop into an automated facility.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): GUO KESHU, Xinhua correspondent
"You can see that it's like a 'steel forest' here. Mr. Li, what kind of warehouse is it?"

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LI XIN, Deputy General Manager, Guiyang Nanming Laoganma Special Flavour Foodstuffs Co., Ltd.
"This is our three-dimensional warehouse. We have a total of five automated warehouses, which effectively streamline the centralized distribution of our products. Additionally, these warehouses operate through our Warehouse Management System (WMS), allowing us to track the date of every box, or every single bottle. This enables us to implement a first-in, first-out (FIFO) method, ensuring the timeliness of our products.
In recent years, Lao Gan Ma has integrated big data into its operations, establishing a big data center that aims to 'let data speak and use data for decision-making.' The system is divided into four modules: procurement, production, warehousing, and sales. The procurement module automatically captures weather data from raw material production areas to predict agricultural output and price fluctuations. The production module collects various parameters from the production process to help optimize operations. The warehousing module monitors real-time raw material reserves and product inventory across different locations for efficient distribution. The sales module analyzes sales data and product types in various regions to guide product development and sales strategies."
