A wall of toxic foam engulfed roads and spilled into surrounding agricultural fields after water from a reservoir was discharged into the Thenpennai river.

The foam that stands 5 foot tall in some areas has caused traffic jams in the Hosur area it also gives off a foul odour.

According to reports, water from the Kelavarapalli dam had been polluted by industrial effluents and had to be discharged.
