The plan is always to catch him mid-serenade, and this time, he’s so absorbed in his singing that he forgets to let go.

One of the only ways to get Pebble in his cage when he doesn't want to go is to hypnotize him with his favorite pillow (off camera) and grab him while you have the chance. This time, the hypnosis was so effective and his serenade to his pillow so intense that he forgot to let go of the towel he was sitting on... at least until he realizes where he's headed.
